Eternaltwin

This Month In Eternaltwin #22

Eternaltwin is a project with the goal to preserve Motion Twin's games and player communities.

Eternaltwin

We're working on new features discussed during February Council. We've added a minimal user search feature and have made good progress on adding a system to notify games when user data changes.

Synchronizing data between the main website and games (in particular MyHordes) was a blocking task to enable emails and password resets, so it's an important milestone.

KadoKadeo

The new version is well under way. As a reminder, we're rebuilding the games with PixiJS, for better performance.

The interpolation system is done and functional, the replay system is in good shape, almost done (still a few tests to do), the communication with the server is working too.

We have drafts of the following games: Kaskade2, Interwheel, Chocomouche, Atlanteine, KSlash, Opaslus2, Xiang-Xiang (right, we have a few now!)

We still need some details for each game, update some page element when playing, and integrate with the deployment system.

In summary, we're making good progress, we that it will be ready before Summer 🙂

DinoRPG

Howdy Dinoz Masters! For this newsletter, we share an update with the ongoing reworks.

Fight Mechanic of the Month: Critical Hits

Critical hts are a new mecanic added to the game that did not exist before. It has very low visibility as of now as only a single item gives a passive bonus of critical hit chance.

How does it work?

  • It only impacts assaults.
  • Fighters have by default a 0% chance of critical hits.
  • A critical hit increases the power of an assault by 50% by default.
  • Visually, a critical hit shows as a yellow number that is slightly bigger.

The goal of adding this new mechanic is to allow improvements to assaults in the future.

Ongoing work and Roadmap

Aside from bugs, technical debt mentioned in a previous newsletter, there are 2 major ongoing tasks:

  • Skills will be balanced in order to renew the game experience and avoid the domination of Fire and Water elements. If you are curious of past notes and analysis on the balance, take a look at "les notes de développement" in the discord channel #skill-rework.
  • The 2.0 Dojo will bring balance to challenges and a rework of tournament archetypes for mor diversity, less repetitiveness to boost competitor's creativity!

That's it for March. We'll share more fresh news on the game development next month.

The DinoRPG Team

eMush

The 42nd stage team elected last month has already been working hard, and many requested features have been integrated into the game! Several Mush gold projects have been modified to be compatible with our new non-commercial version, some are already in the game and others are coming soon. On the skills side, Crazy Eye has been replace to favor teamplay. Humanity's Only Hope is now a permanent status of Chun. Finally, we keep improving the interface such as the new note-taking system in-game.

And what's in our future? Obiously April 1st and its share of absurdities, obviously. Helping Dereck meet with Charo? Finally play with Pavlov? It seems like he loves to run after the flayers.

Closing words
